Downtown Mesa Merchants Present “Motorcycles On Main…And More!
Sept. 11 “2nd Friday” to Include Biking Events, a 9/11 Remembrance, and a Whole Lotta Fun

Grab your leather jacket and get ready to ride when the downtown Mesa merchants present “Motorcycles On Main…And More!” the evening of Sept. 11.

The whole family will enjoy special biking activities and displays along with live music, drawings and give-aways, and great shopping and dining – all held amongst a display of American flags in remembrance of 9/11.

These activities, and many others, are part of the next 2nd Friday, the monthly event held on and around West Main Street from 6-10 p.m.

Downtown Mesa will be a particularly lively place the evening of Sept. 11, as that is also when Mesa Arts Center kicks off its fall season with music, entertainment and more.

Patriotic Display on Main
In remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001, American flags will line West Main Street, from Center to Morris Streets. The flags will be donated by Boy Scouts of America Mesa Jamboree Troop #2014.

Motorcycle Park, Show & Cruise
Anyone on two wheels is invited to park, show and cruise West Main Street. All types of motorcycles are welcome including Harley-Davidsons, custom bikes, sport bikes, touring bikes and cruising bikes.

Motorcycle Groups, Dealers & Displays
Skunk Motorsports, 202 W. Main St., will have a fine display of custom motorcycles and more in front of their shop.

American Chopper, 220 W. Main St., will have coupons for reduced labor rates on motorcycle repair/maintenance. They have accessories and awesome custom bikes in the shop as well.

il Vinaio, the restaurant at 270 W. Main St., will host a display by Arizona Superbike Ducati & Triumph, a dealer from Chandler.

Inside The Bungalow, the café and massage/yoga studio at 48 N. Robson St., plans to host a surprise motorcycle group.

Chester’s Harley-Davidson, south of downtown, will come to Main and Macdonald Streets to set up a display of Harley and Indian motorcycles. They’ll hold a drawing too!

East Valley HOG (Harley Owners Group), one of the most active HOG chapters in the Valley, will be quite a sight as they ride into downtown Mesa to eat dinner and show off their Harley-Davidsons. This group is sponsored by Chester’s.

Victory Big Dog Motorcycles of Mesa, also located south of downtown, will come to Main and Robson Streets to present a huge display of custom motorcycles.

Adrenaline Performance & Motofast USA, located north of downtown, will come to downtown Main Street with a display of racing motorcyles and gear.

The Arizona Bike Week promo trailer will be on the first block of South Robson Street (adjacent to Main Street).

Roller Racer Contests
Children and adults alike will have a blast in the Roller Racer contests, which begin at 7:30 p.m. at OneOhOne Gallery, 101 W. Main St.

Roller Racers are essentially seats with wheels and handlebars, propelled by moving the handles side-to-side. Prepare for lots of laughs, especially when the adults ride! Each race will have up to 10 contestants, with prizes for the winners.

OneOhOne Gallery will also serve $1 root beer floats and host live music (see below).

The M-Troniks Band will perform at M-Troniks, 41 W. Main St.
Mosaic will perform at Inside The Bungalow, 48 N. Robson St.
The Mahogany Birds will perform at OneOhOne Gallery, 101 W. Main St.
The Aebi-Coulson Trio will perform at il Vinaio, 270 W. Main St.
The Jerry Rulon Trio will perform at de la Cruz Bistro, 10 W. Main St.
Lestra will perform at 149 W. Main St.

Mesa United Way Family Fun Van
The Mesa United Way Family Fun Van will set up in front of 127 W. Main St. Kids will enjoy coloring (flag or motorcycle pages), having their photo taken with a motorcycle, and guessing how many items are in a large motorcycle-themed jar. Each child will also receive a free book and snack.

Raffles, Drawings & Give-Aways
Muralt’s Custom Jewelers, 130 W. Main St., will have a drawing for a one-carrot, 14K gold diamond ring at 9:30 p.m.

Twisted Sisters’ Designs, the unique jewelry studio and gallery at 48 S. Robson St., #102, will give a free gift with a $20 purchase.

The Human Bean, a downtown Mesa neighbor at 405 W. Main St., will host a charity raffle at 9 p.m., donating at least 25 percent of sales to Boy Scouts.

SunDust Gallery Grand Opening
SunDust Gallery, 48 W. Main St., will hold its grand opening the evening of Sept. 11. This gala event will feature music and an open house celebration as well as exhibits by dozens of fine artists. For more information visit www.SunDustGallery.com.

Many downtown shops, restaurants and other businesses will stay open late for 2nd Friday, with many offering discounts and specials.

Mesa Arts Center Fall Season Kick-Off
Mesa Arts Center will kick off its fall season on Sept. 11 with an all-out spectacular. From 6-10 p.m., the outdoor campus at 1 E. Main St. will feature a variety of entertainment including dance, live music, Taiko drumming, and Flam Chen’s acrobatics and daring uses of fire.

Additionally, Mesa Contemporary Arts, the five-gallery visual arts complex at Mesa Arts Center, will kick off its fall exhibitions with live performances, a Sister Cities Concert, a Taxco Silver Trunk Show, Art Studio activities and demonstrations, and more.
