A real life treasure hunt is how some people describe Geocaching. Geocachers place track able items all around the world for other people to find them. Using a GPS device, any Geocacher can locate the hidden item and ‘cache’ them. Since 2000, Geocaching has grown from 75 caches in several countries to hundreds and thousands of caches all over the world.

You can learn more about Geocaching by attending the free lecture “Geocaching 101” at the Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Rd., on Sat., Jan. 23 from noon to 2 p.m. Participants will learn the history of Geocaching, how to locate a Geocache, placing a Geocache, and an introduction to Geocaching applications like Google Earth, GSAK and Cachemate. A live demonstration will be held after the lecture. Participants are encouraged to bring a GPS device.
