Gilbert experts who have been touched by a child drowning will share their experiences and answer questions during a public forum, Tuesday, May 11, 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Gilbert Town Hall, 50 E. Civic Center Drive.

Panelists will include a hospital advocate as well as firefighters who have dealt with the real issue of drowning. Gilbert Republic editor Paul Maryniak will serve as the moderator for this important forum.

As summer arives, it is important that every resident arm themselves with the knowledge of the impacts of drowning, and prevention information. The forum will be seen on Channel 11.

Water safety tips:

- Never leave a child out of supervisory eye contact in or near a pool.
- Do not place objects like chairs or tables near the pool or spa fence.
- Keep toys away from the pool.
- Secure pools with fencing and self-latching gates.
