Be the Match Registry Event
Mesa resident, Kelly Satter Anderson, 42, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia a little over a month ago. After a 35 day hospital stay and her first round of chemotherapy, inclusive of five spinal treatments, her leukemia was put into remission. However, even with four additional rounds of chemotherapy, she only has a 20% chance of survival. A bone marrow transplant will give Kelly a much greater probability of survival (60%), but no family members are a match and there are no matches currently in the national bone marrow registry. She needs a transplant as soon as possible to survive. Kelly’s family and friends are sponsoring a “Be the Match Registry” event:
Date: Saturday, May 15, 2010
Time: Noon to 6:00pm
Location: The Villages at Las Sendas Shopping Plaza, NE corner of Power and McDowell, 2837 North Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85215, Phone: (602) 277-1002
It is their hope that people will come by to register as a donor or donate money to help offset the cost so that others can register. “Be the Match Registry” provides thousands of patients an opportunity to find suitable donors who can provide a second chance at life. The event will include live entertainment, free frozen yogurt, merchant discounts and prize giveaways.
Kelly has worked tirelessly on behalf of school children in her role as School Psychologist. She has been active at the school, community, and state level, previously serving as the President of the State Association of School Psychologists. She is cherished by those who know her because of her ever-cheerful and caring manner. She has maintained a healthy, active lifestyle, and enjoys endless activities with her husband, Curtis, and her infant son, Jack. She looks forward to the day she can accompany him to his first Disney trip
