CHAMBER TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOCAL STUDENTS
Applications Are Being Accepted from Higley, Gilbert Seniors
The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce is accepting scholarship applications from high school seniors in the Higley Unified School District and Gilbert Public Schools and will award scholarships to seven local students.
Members of the Chamber recently held a Scholar’s Golf Tournament to raise the scholarship funds for students who participate in the Arizona Academic Scholars program – a community-wide effort to prepare students for post-secondary education. These students have committed to take additional math and science classes to prepare for college and to increase their grade point average.
“The Chamber and its members partnered with the school districts last year to support the Scholars program and reach out to the students who might otherwise be overlooked as scholarship recipients,” said Kathy Tilque, president and CEO of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce. “Our members recognize this as an opportunity to shape the future workforce.”
The scholarship application requests a personal statement, a list of activities and honors, two letters of recommendation and a copy of the student’s high school transcript. To receive an application or for more information, contact Grace Hodges at (480) 926-6027 or e-mail grace@gilbertchamber.com. Completed applications must be received by Friday, May 14th at 5:00 PM.
