			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Mesa downtown merchants’ group that produces 2nd Friday is gearing up for its biggest event ever, IMP Fest.  IMP Fest is the Independent Music Program Festival and will be Friday, May 14 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Mesa.</p>
<p>In addition to the always great shopping and dining, Main Street will be closed from Center to Morris and IMP Fest will feature 9 bands, 7 stages,  a rockin’ rollin’ raffle, VW and classic car show, and Desert Dolls Roller Derby.  It’s sure to be the best 2nd Friday ever!</p>
<p>The bands will include Shanan Ryan, Lucero and the Blues Crew, King MC, Mahogany Birds, Darkness, Dear Boy, Todd Owens, Nightweed, Funky Monkey, and Take Cover.</p>

<p><strong>2nd Friday – Harvest Moon on Main</strong><br />
Great shopping, dining and entertainment continues the Second Fridays.  November 13 from 6-10 p.m. many downtown businesses stay open late to offer great values, a variety of musical groups provide live entertainment, and arts and crafts vendors display their wares. The theme for November is ‘Harvest Moon’ featuring green, sustainable and holistic fun. <p><strong>Run From the Sun</strong><br />
Join the fight against skin cancer by participating in the first annual Run from the Sun event.  The event includes a half marathon at 7 a.m., 5K at 7:30 a.m., Family Fun Run at 9 a.m., and fitness expo Saturday, Nov. 14.  The event will run through the beautiful city of Mesa and finish at HoHokam Stadium home plate, 1235 N. <p><strong>Milano’s Music</strong><br />
Congratulations to Milano’s Music who will be celebrating its 63rd Anniversary from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 14. <p><strong>Farmers’ Market</strong><br />
The Macdonald Street Farmers Market is every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. through May.  Located on the first block of North Macdonald Street (one block west of Center Street), the market offers fresh seasonal produce, specialty foods like jams and jellies, health and wellness products, and more.</p>

<p><strong>Mesa Native American Arts Festival</strong><br />

<p><strong>MAC Fest</strong><br />
MACFest, Mesa’s community-owned “Made by Me” Arts and Culture Festival, returns this fall for its second season of arts, crafts, food, live music and fun for the whole family!</p>
<p>The event will be held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the sidewalks of Main Street, with vendors beginning at Macdonald Street then spreading east and west from there.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <em>Downtown Mesa Merchants</em> and the<em> Downtown Mesa Association</em> are hosting Downtown Mesa’s First Ever <strong>Oktoberfest Celebration on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 10;00 PM</strong>. Five Beer Gardens will dot Main Street from Center Street to Country Club Drive. There will be contests, events, and tastings for the whole family, including live entertainment. Restaurants, Galleries, and unique shops will stay open late and ample free parking and public restrooms will be available. </p>
<p>Live Music will be featured at il Vinaio and De La Cruz Restaurants at opposite ends of the event and also outdoors at the OneOhOne Gallery at the corner of Main Street and MacDonald.</p>
<p>Participant events will kick off at 7:00 p.m. as the Best Cleavage contest winner will be crowned Miss Oktoberfest 2009. The winner will lead a Polka Line down Main Street through all five Beer Gardens gathering participants.</p>
<p>Other events include: Best legs contest for men, Tug-of-War, yodeling, Chicken Dance, hair braiding, and storytelling for the kids. Participants can get event cards punched and those with the most participant points will be eligible to win prize baskets for Gold, Silver, and Bronze finishes in the Oktoberfest Olympics. </p>
<p>Free Parking is available on Main Street as well as in public parking lots behind the merchants on both the North and South sides of Main from Center Street to Morris. Public Restrooms will be available at all five Beer Gardens.</p>
