Free Workshop Offers Landscape Help
Get ready for the spring planting season by attending a free workshop on Feb. 9 and 16 titled Xeriscape: Landscaping the Desert Southwest, sponsored by the City of Mesa Utilities Department.

Join landscape designer Ron Dinchak for an in-depth, two-day workshop as he demonstrates how to bring the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert environment to a landscape. Ron’s comprehensive introduction to plant selection and design will help to take the guesswork out of which plants will work best for your landscape.

“The timing of the class is perfect,” said Donna DiFrancesco, utilities conservation specialist. “The City is now offering Mesa water customers a rebate of $500 for removing grass and planting a water-saving Xeriscape.”

The workshop will be held 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each Saturday at the City of Mesa Utilities Department Community Room, 640 N. Mesa Dr. The workshop is free, but advance registration is required; call 480-644-4400 or e-mail conservation.info@cityofmesa.org. Residents should provide their name, address, phone number and workshop title when registering. A confirmation letter and map will be sent approximately one week prior to the event.

For more information about the grass-to-Xeriscape rebate, visit www.cityofmesa.org/utilities/conservation.
