Gilbert Vista Dental Care: If you dread going to the dentist, then this is a good day for you, because you’re about to learn about Dr. Rita Peck.

After being a dental assistant for 17 years, Dr. Peck decided to go back to school. In 2000, she graduated from ASU, and earned her Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from the University of Nevada, where she graduated with honors. She has been continuing her education ever since, staying up to date on the newest developments in her field including Invisalign clear braces and Lumineers (contact lens-thin prepless veneers) as well as dental implant restorations. Then, just over a year ago, she started her own practice – Gilbert Vista Dental Care.

Sometimes when you go to work for another dentist you are instructed to only offer the most expensive solution to their problem(s). Having my own practice gives me the freedom to help patients make good choices for themselves based on what we feel is the most beneficial to them, and their unique circumstances. For example: if someone has lost their job and they need a crown, we may be able to perform an alternate procedure that will buy them some time until their situation changes.

She points out that with adhesive or bonding dentistry, her office can successfully perform larger fillings, than what was previously possible with silver fillings. While the procedure will not last a lifetime, people can be restored to form and function much easier than before, when crowns were the only option.

Dr. Peck also is great at describing procedures in ways people can understand. I don’t want my patients to feel like I do when an auto mechanic speaks to me, like “uhhhhh,” Peck laughs. I try to break it down into terms that people can understand.

And for those of you with a dental phobia, Dr.Peck knows that you have had a bad experience in the past, and your fears are valid to her. “We’ll start slowly and work through whatever emotional or mental problems [a patient has] in regards to our field,” Peck said. “It upsets me that whatever situation or event occurred that caused this fear occurred to them, but it makes me feel pretty good when we can turn around that feeling.”

Gilbert Vista Dental Care offers early morning and evening hours, and accepts most forms of insurance. The office is located on Baseline, just west of Lindsey Road. Call to set up an appointment at 480-503-5467.
