Dynasty Iron Doors: Three years ago, two Mesa men went into business together. Today, they are co-founders of a national company. They went from a 1,000-square-foot office to the present 30,000-square-foot building that houses their corporate Dynasty Iron Doors offices and national distribution warehouse. In 2008 Dynasty has showrooms opening from California to North Carolina.

To say they are a success is a glaring understatement.

Kevin Wright and Eric Swapp both came from construction backgrounds; Wright was a general contractor and Swapp was in the window covering business.

“We decided we wanted to manufacture building products,” Wright said, “make them better and deliver them at a cost-effective price.”

What began as a long list of different products was narrowed down in the first year to just iron entry doors. While this remains their primary focus, they are constantly developing other ornamental iron products as well.

Last year, the duo introduced their garage doors at the International Builder’s Show (IBS) in Orlando, Florida. It was here they signed a four-year deal with Amarr Garage Doors, one of the nation’s largest garage door companies.

In addition to their one-of-a-kind garage doors, Dynasty offers an extensive line of iron products like gates, railing and wine doors to complete any home.

So what is it that sets Dynasty apart? Most iron doors are made only after they are ordered, meaning longer waiting periods. Dynasty took a different approach.

“We’ve completely changed the way you order an iron door,” Wright said. “We’ve taken the most popular sizes and styles and put them in stock. We have over 100 doors of various sizes and shapes in stock, ready for immediate delivery.”

Since signing with Amarr, Dynasty Iron Doors have become available at more than 60 door centers across the country and through more than 3,000 dealers in North and South America. Their corporate offices here in Mesa have the largest iron door showroom in the state.

With their extensive research in the development and engineering of their products, these men are focused on making the best-built iron doors in the industry.
“We’ve got the best-made product,” Wright said. “We’ll outperform any competitor.”

And right now, Dynasty has begun its Grand Opening Sale, where you can get 20 percent off any of their products, whether in stock or ordered. Check their products online at www.dynastyirondoors.com give them a call at (480) 820-5400 or visit their corporate offices at 2360 W. Broadway Road, #106.

One thing is for sure – this company isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Dynasty is launching two new products at this year’s IBS, iron and wood interior doors along with unique new iron windows, but we’ll have to wait and see how they look.

As Wright points out, “The garage doors were a secret last year, and look what it did for us.”

The Learning Center

The Learning Center: Every day, students of all ages and grade levels get confused, fall behind and cannot successfully follow certain curriculums in school. Whether it be math, science or English, it is not uncommon for some students to need extra help. With an organization like The Learning Center in Mesa, instead of these students being left behind, they can get the help they need to continue in school at the same level as their classmates.

In 1981, Colleen Thomas did everything she could to help her son while he struggled as a student at Mountain View High School. That gave her the motivation to open a facility where any student can come and receive the same help that she provided for her son. Now, 27 years later, she has a full staff of dedicated educators and tutors who spend every day helping students succeed in areas that once were a challenge. Through individualized attention, the students are able to get a much better understanding of difficult subjects.

“In the simplest of terms, we are a private tutorial center dedicated to student success through one-on-one tutoring and small class instruction,” Colleen says.

The Learning Center provides assistance to students 7th grade and higher in all levels of math, English, foreign language, history and all sciences, as well as test strategies. They have also developed a program available to students in 4th grade and higher called Reading Advantage. With this program, educators teach efficient and valuable strategies that allow students to become more efficient in silent reading. By doing so, they are able to complete homework assignments much more efficiently, and can even expect better test results.

Not only do students at The Learning Center get a chance to learn this effective technique, but the staff is teaching Reading Advantage to educators all over the U.S., who are incorporating it into their curriculums, including schools in the Mesa area.

Generally serving as an after-school program, The Learning Center only requires students interested in joining to have a genuine longing for better achievement in school. Then, a schedule is established and, with the help of notes and assignments from school, kids are quickly on their way to a much easier and less stressful road to graduation.

The Learning Center is located at 2830 E. Brown Road, Suite #4 in Mesa, across the street from Mountain View High School. For more information, call 480-964-4999.
